Swing Sets Recalled for Repair by BCI Burke Due to Fall Hazard

Hazards: The welded connection of the sleeve joint to the arch support can crack or break. When this happens, the top swing beam can collapse causing children on the swings to fall and be injured.
Remedies: Repair
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swing sets, remove the chain and swings and contact the firm for a free retrofit kit. BCI Burke is contacting owners directly by mail.

Description

This recall involves the end and middle arch supports on Arch Swing Sets and added bays with belt or bucket seats built with 2 3/8 inch steel tubing. The swings have a 2 7/8 inch diameter sleeve that is welded to the middle or end support. “Burke” is printed on identification labels that were provided to installers who may or may not have put them on the swings.

The firm has received seven reports of incidents involving the recalled swing sets, including two minor injuries.
