Swagway Recalls Self-Balancing Scooters/Hoverboards Due to Fire Hazard
Description
This recall involves the Swagway X1 Hands-Free Smartboard brand of self-balancing scooters, commonly referred to as hoverboards. Hoverboards have two wheels at either end of a platform and are powered by lithium-ion battery packs. The Swagway brand X1 hoverboard has “Swagway” printed in the front and comes in gold, black, blue, green, red, pink or white.

Injuries:
There have been 42 incident reports of the battery packs in the self-balancing scooters/hoverboards smoking, catching fire and/or exploding, including 16 reports of injuries, such as burns to neck, leg, and arm, or severe property damage.
